The key word in the implementation of international logistics is certainly synchronization – that is, unification of all cooperating links in the supply chain. And here we mean not only the transport supply chain, but also broadly understood synchronization, including, above all, understanding the specific requirements and wishes of our customers. All this can be compared to a global dance, in which each individual element simply has to be part of processes linked to other elements. And everything in general is aimed at creating a fixed and harmonious mechanism, encompassing producers and exporters, carriers and end customers, all the way to the target consumers of a given product.
In order to better adapt our services to the needs of our customers, we are constantly deepening our knowledge and improving our services in the field of rail container transport and multimodal cargo transport to maximize the satisfaction of our customers, which ultimately comes down to two aspects, namely: increasing efficiency and reducing the costs of cargo delivery between Poland, Ukraine and EU countries.
What does this mean in practice? Let's take an example from our current tasks, the so-called "grain season". Our ongoing cooperation with Ukrainian grain exporters encourages us, in addition to already solved problems and existing networks, to continuously work on meeting operational and seasonal needs at specific moments, for example, to increase the efficiency and capacity of our transport system, delivering dry bulk and other containerized cargo from Ukraine to the port of Gdansk.
Recall that grain exports from Ukraine are a key element of the global agricultural market. Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of corn in the world, which affects the stability of prices on the market. In the 2024-25 season, 3.5 million tons were already exported (mainly to consumers - Italy, Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands). Thus, compared to the previous year, the volume of grain exports from Ukraine increased by 70%. At the same time, over the past 2 years, delivery logistics , due to well-known circumstances, have undergone major changes - blockades of some seaports and other changes in the global infrastructure forced grain producers in Ukraine to change their decisions regarding routes and methods of international deliveries .
In these conditions, we are aware of our responsibility for optimizing the transport chains of rail container transport from Ukraine to Europe and we are glad that as a participant in this process we were able to quickly rebuild and offer our partners new solutions.
As we have already said, it was the close ties with Ukrainian exporters that prompted us to launch a direct container rail line between Ukraine and the port of Gdansk . It is the most reliable, efficient, resource-saving and effective way to transport grain by rail . However, the volume burdens and the needs of our customers force us to think about further optimization and search for new solutions.
What additional key solutions have we developed to optimize the transport of grain Key solutions to optimize grain transport from Ukraine and Poland to Europe by rail ?
First of all, we thought about increasing the capacity of containers and we managed to find solutions. For the transport of grain, we use specific Grain Trainer rail containers, which have a number of features, namely:
Increased capacity : the permissible net cargo weight of our containers is 2,300 – 2,350 tons, which allows for the transportation of more cargo in one unit of time and reduces costs.
Efficiency: in addition to a simplified direct train shipment scheme from Ukraine to the port of Gdansk, we use containers with an accelerated loading and unloading scheme . We have also eliminated downtime associated with the need to switch from wide to narrow gauges: our containers are adapted to both wide and narrow European gauges, which eliminates the need for reloading.
Well-established algorithm for implementing cross-border procedures : our many years of experience allow us to minimize any delays. Additionally, at a number of border crossings we have our own elevators, which also minimizes the risk.
All this together significantly eliminates any delays related to congestion and taking up a significant amount of time. Thus, we managed to achieve a record minimum train travel time from loading to port in 3-4 days, which is certainly the most effective solution at the moment.
This is of course just one example of our strategic solutions for our clients. Cooperation with each new recipient of our services poses new challenges and encourages us to seek new, key approaches. We are open to new challenges and welcome them, because growth, development and taking on new challenges are essential conditions for prosperity.
